Newton Balanced Fund Wins Top Award

London

16 July, 2009

Newton Investment Management won a major award at the Investment Week Fund Manager of the Year Awards 2009 with the Newton Balanced Fund securing best fund in the Balanced Managed sector.

Newton, a BNY Mellon Asset Management boutique, was shortlisted in three additional categories.

The Newton Balanced Fund is one of Newton's longest established funds. Launched in November 1986, the fund's balanced approach provides investors with the opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of equity and fixed interest investments both in the UK and internationally. Managed by Iain Stewart and Newton's experienced investment management team, the fund has delivered top quartile performance and beaten the Sector average over 1, 3, 5 and 10 years.*

The Investment Week Awards are designed to recognise and reward excellence in the UK investment industry. The judges use a combination of quantitative performance-based screens and qualitative factors to determine the winner. Newton also had funds short-listed in three other categories, namely, Newton Growth and Newton UK Opportunities in the UK All Companies Sector, Newton Real Return Fund (previously Newton Absolute Intrepid) in the Global Equity Sector and Newton Bridge Fund and Newton Falcon Fund in the Active Managed Sector.

Helena Morrissey, chief executive officer at Newton Investment Management said, "We are thrilled that we continue to be recognised at such prestigious industry awards. We strongly believe that our solid thematic investment process continues to deliver strong returns for our investors, particularly through the turbulent markets that we continue to have to navigate."
